THE PINK STAIRS

The Heart Behind TPS
Sunny Wu, Founder & Chair
When I started TPS, my goal was simple: I knew I wanted to create something bigger than myself, something that would have a lasting impact on how women view themselves and each other. Growing up, I always felt a tension between being myself and trying to meet the expectations society had for me as a girl. The idea that femininity and leadership couldn’t coexist didn’t sit right with me. I wanted to create a space where young women didn’t feel the need to downplay their strengths or dilute their personalities to fit into boxes. With TPS, I hoped to build a global community where women support and uplift one another. It’s about creating a space where women feel empowered to embrace their full selves, unapologetically.
I often hear people asking,
“Why do we still need feminism? Women can vote and get jobs already.”
Because feminism is more than just having the same rights. It's about being able to face the same consequences for your actions, being able to have the same chance of getting that job without being accused of sleeping with the boss, not feeling in danger or threatened at night for just being a woman. It's about being able to be a woman and not have society punish you for it.

Meet the Management
A heartfelt thank you to our 200+ volunteers around the world! Your dedication and passion drive our mission forward, and each of you plays a vital role in making a difference.
I've always been drawn to organizations that challenge the status quo. Before joining The Pink Stairs, I was constantly asking "why?"
Why things are done a certain way, why we settle for less when we’re capable of more. TPS embodies those questions. It's an organization that dares to rethink what leadership and community can truly look like. To me, leadership is about authenticity. It’s about letting who you are shine through in how you lead. Growing up, I rarely saw women in leadership roles where they were free to be their full, unapologetic selves. At TPS, that changes. This is a space where individuality is celebrated, where you don’t have to fit into a mold to make an impact. As Managing Director, my goal is to foster a culture where everyone feels empowered to lead in their own way. I joined TPS not because it was an easy route to this, but because it pushed me to think bigger, break through limitations, and inspire others to do the same. Being part of this team is both a privilege and a responsibility: to help shape a future where every young woman knows her potential is limitless.
I've come to realize that the best leaders are not just focused on their own journey. They are deeply invested in helping others discover theirs. Whether it is guiding a team, mentoring someone, or collaborating on a shared vision, I have found that leadership is about creating opportunities for others to grow and thrive. For me, authenticity is at the heart of leadership. It is about showing up as your true self, letting your values guide you, and building trust through genuine connection. I have learned that when you lead with honesty and care, you inspire others to do the same. I am proud to serve as Managing Director for an organization like The Pink Stairs, which embodies the values I hold dear. It is a space where individuality is celebrated, collaboration thrives, and people are empowered to take risks and realize their full potential. At the end of the day, leadership is not about fitting into a mold or following a script. It is about leaving a lasting impact, through what you achieve and the people you inspire.
